Bossed Up Bootcamp: Call Me
Life has been crazy lately, so it has meant blog writing has fallen by the wayside a little bit. I've been doing a lot of soul searching and contemplating lately... and then on one particular day I was listening to an episode of the Salesforce Admin podcast, which featured an interview with Emma B-F on owning your role. This had been a particularly rough day, so when Bossed Up Bootcamp was mentioned, and I visited the website, I knew this was what I was looking for:
As luck would have it, the next session was only 5 weeks away, and in Washington DC, so within a few days, I had everything booked. It was even more exciting when fellow WIT User Group leader and Salesforce sister, Leandria Streeter was announced as a speaker.
DC is only 1 hour and 15 minutes of airtime from Toronto, so I could very easily hop on a plane after work the night before. So off I went - Appygail Bobcat and myself to the United States capital.
One of my favourite things to do when I travel is to take public transport, so the next morning I jumped on the metro a couple of stops to Social Tables, who were our host. Side note: I had forgotten how eerily quite DC is on the weekend... maybe doubly so because of the shutdown.
But anyway, I made it and who was I greeted by when I arrived? The lady responsible for introducing me to Bossed Up, Emma! It was just like the first day of school! Emilie had us all stand up in the Wonder Woman pose... I knew straight way that this would be a good day! We all introduced ourselves, where we were from, and why we were there - something I still find so funny is that generally now when I travel, I am the token Canadian in my group... even though I'm not even from Canada!
The day was filled with unique sessions and inspiring presenters that really have me changing my thinking. And while I was hoping that by attending I would find the answer the the magic question I was asking, it has given me the tools to be able to help me change my perspective. It's not designed to tell you what you should do next in your career, but rather sets you up to look at all areas of your life and make the best decision for you.
One of the last sessions of the day was even presented by Leandria talking about Long Term Goal Achievement. I had to laugh when the first question asked was about working towards Salesforce Certification.
It also introduced me to so many wonderful and empowering ladies, both behind the desks and in front of them. The group has kept in touch, and it's been so wonderful to see how everyone is doing post-bootcamp. I would highly recommend Bossed Up Bootcamp to anyone looking for a little more guidance, or for tools to better equip you to reevaluate your life.
And finally, what trip would be complete without getting together with some Salesforce friends. It's a wonderful thing to have friends wherever I travel now!
